Reconnecting Agassiz Slough: for Salmon and People

A new fish-friendly flood gate has been installed on Agassiz Slough. This is great news for salmon, and other fish, who are no longer blocked from accessing their habitats behind the gate. Funding provided through the Healthy Watersheds Initiative to the B.C. Wildlife Federation’s Wetlands Workforce project allowed the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition (FVWC) to undertake maintenance work on these sites during the summer of 2021 supporting the functionality of the wetland and creek when there was increased river flow in the fall.
